Wins Malaysia’s Telecom Company of the Year for Third Year for Financial Growth and AI-Ready Infrastructure, and Infrastructure Initiative of the Year for Innovative Smart City Network Solution
TM Global, the wholesale domestic and international business arm of TM, has once again solidified its leadership position in the telecommunications industry by securing two esteemed accolades at the Asian Telecom Awards 2025. TM Global was named Telecom Company of the Year – Malaysia for the third consecutive year, recognising its strong financial growth and leadership in AI-driven digital infrastructure. In addition, TM Global secured its first-ever win for Infrastructure Initiative of the Year – Malaysia, honoring its successful deployment of innovative smart city network solutions in Putrajaya.
The awards ceremony took place on 20 February 2025 in Singapore, celebrating outstanding achievements in the telecommunications industry across Asia. TM Global’s dual wins underscore its role in driving digital transformation and reaffirm its position as a leading regional telco player, propelling Malaysia as ASEAN’s digital hub.
TM Global’s achievements are driven by the expansion of its fibre infrastructure, including the fibrerisation of over 5,000 backhaul sites to support 5G deployment, alongside the rollout of 59 D-RAN sites for seamless 4G and 5G connectivity in Putrajaya.
To meet the increasing demand for data centres, co-location, and cloud services, TM Global has scaled its existing data centres and Edge Facilities to a capacity of up to 40 MW. On top of that, TM Global’s data centres are interconnected with high-speed network infrastructure and strategically linked to cable landing stations, enabling direct flow of data in and out Malaysia. Further strengthening its position as a key digital enabler, TM Global is also building a new AI-ready data centre, in collaboration with Nxera, with a planned capacity of up to 200 MW.
In addition to its recognition at the Asian Telecom Awards, TM Global was shortlisted as the top 3 companies in two categories at the Pacific Telecommunications Council (PTC) Awards 2025, which took place in Honolulu, Hawaii, in January - the Outstanding Digital Infrastructure Investor Award, and Outstanding Innovation Award - further reinforcing its standing among global telcos.
Expressing her gratitude for the industry recognitions, Khairul Liza Ibrahim, Executive Vice President of TM Global, stated, “These awards are a testament to our unwavering commitment to pushing the boundaries of innovation and infrastructure excellence. Securing these wins at the Asian Telecom Awards and being shortlisted among the top three at the PTC Awards further validates our vision of enabling world-class connectivity and AI-driven infrastructure. Our continued success reflects the trust our partners place in us as we accelerate Malaysia’s position as ASEAN’s digital hub.”
In line with its commitment to future-ready digital solutions, TM recently unveiled its own GPU-as-a-Service (GPUaaS) solution, further strengthening its core capabilities in AI-driven infrastructure. This milestone marks another step in ramping up Malaysia’s digital infrastructure, enabling enterprises, hyperscalers, and AI developers to leverage high-performance computing power.
As TM Global continues to drive innovation and strategic partnerships, these achievements reinforce its long-term vision of becoming a Digital Powerhouse by 2030.
